Healthy Vegan - Red Gooseberries and Wild Strawberries

Its been almost a month since I shared progress in my garden, so I am joining in again with Harvest Mondays and sharing my wild strawberries and red gooseberries.  
These alpine wild strawberries were not planted by me or the neighbours, but by its very nature of being 'wild' and invasive they have self seeded and have been creeping from the neighbours into our front porch, not even the garden plot - winding and weaving its way in the paving slabs - I love it actually.  And they are the most sweetest berry I have ever eaten in my life, proper natural sugar berry burst. 
Whilst I was weeding at the back, I discovered, a pot of red gooseberries.  
I had forgotten about it  actually, we picked it up from a garden centre last yer and wow - look at these berries, hardly a harvest, but a unexpected present from the garden indeed. I have put the red gooseberries into a larger container, until I can decide where to give it its permanent spot. 



We and the pests in the garden have been enjoying the wet summer strawberries.  They are not as abundant as they were last year, but its better than not having them at all.   
I picked my first raspberry yesterday, but I won't have long to wait to pick a bowl full for my cereal bowl.
Now to our greenhouse.  We have a couple of tomato plants, but nothing much to show there as of yet.  This is D's courgette is growing in the greenhouse and he had been boasting at how big his it; and if you look below, that is mine sad specimen
Some lettuce and salad greens growing in the greenhouse.  The salad leaves will be ready come this weekend. 
And finally, a different view of the plot.  We erected the trellis at the back a few weeks back.  It has climbing beans tied and growing along it, except I am not that optimistic, I have a sinking feeling the slugs will get them.

Healthy Vegan - 13 Black Food Recipes for Halloween

I have black quinoa, black rice and black garlic in my kitchen to experiment with over the weekend, but with Halloween fast becoming UKs most commercialised event after Christmas , I thought I would shamelessly  jump on the bandwagon and share some vegetarian and vegan black coloured food recipes you could easily make at home for the Halloween party (or maybe not). Healthy Vegan - Three Pea Tagine with Cherry Tomatoes

These days, I don't have much energy to cook from scratch when I get in from work unless its something like pasta such as  Spaghetti dish, but strangely enough I did actually make this Three Pea Tagine after work in the late evening.   I was rather surprised that I had both the energy and the inclination.  This was one of those days, when i decided to myself that I was not going to plonk myself in front of either the computer or sofa and instead use those couple of hours a little more usefully, then laze.  Other than making couscous, grub was made and it was plenty to last us two days if not more.   Its actually a relatively easy recipe, after sauteing the onions, garlic and spices, you could happily leave it for 40 - 45 minutes for the yellow split peas to cook in the vegetable stock, then stir in the remaining ingredients such as chickpeas, raisins, green peas, cherry tomatoes which happen to be home gown for 10 minutes and its pretty much done.  ...
